Ministering To Men Along The Elizabeth River

You are invited to participate in our first annual Heart Havens/ERDMMT Golf Tournament. This tournament is being sponsored by the Elizabeth River District Men’s Ministry Team (ERDMMT) of the United Methodist Church and will support the ministries of Heart Havens and the ERDMMT. Two thirds of all registration fees and all extra funds collected will support Heart Havens, Inc.

Heart Havens empowers adults with a developmental disability to live full and vibrant lives with as much independence as possible. This non-profit ministry began in 1996 as an outreach of the Virginia Conference United Methodist Church’s Commission on Disabilities and has strong ties to the United Methodist Men. One third of the registration fees will go to support the ministries and activities of the ERDMMT as we seek to “engage, equip and empower men to think and act like Jesus Christ.”

Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team finishers. Closest to the pin and longest drive will also receive a cash award. The lowest scoring church teams that chooses to participate will also win the D. S. Cup Award for 1 year. The cup will be passed on, but the team will also earn a nice wall plaque to document the win. This prize is in addition to all other cash prizes.

It is our hope that churches will use this event as an opportunity for “elbow activities” with individuals in your community who love golf but are not connected to a church or men’s fellowship. Invite a friend to join your team. The tournament is open to both men and women.

The event begins with a shotgun start at 1 PM on Saturday, April 21st at Ocean View Golf Course, 9610 Norfolk Ave., Norfolk, VA 23503. A BBQ dinner will follow the tournament. All players are welcome to come and enjoy an afternoon of great golf, food and prizes. Please register here.

Cost is $90 per individual or $360 per team. For teams desiring to compete in the D.S. Cup competition there will be an additional $20 fee. Registration must be received no later than April 15th.
